Is ‘Gangaa’ similar to 'Balika Vadhu'? (PICS)
The star-studded launch event of ‘Gangaa’ TV show was held yesterday in Mumbai.
The affair was attended by the cast members comprising Hiten Tejwani, Smita Mukherjee, Rakhee Tandon, Jaya Bhattacharya and Ruhana Khanna in their complete on-screen get-up.
The show is about a protagonist called Gangaa who is a young and abandoned widow living in Benaras. Societal norms restrict her basic freedom and deprive her of leading a happy life at a tender age. Soon, a ray of hope enters her life in the form of Niranjan Chaturvedi (Hiten Tejwani) and his wife. The kind couple takes the young widow under their wings, thereby, facing stiff resistance from the society.
We asked Hiten to share his views on how different is ‘Gangaa’ from ‘Balika Vadhu’ that continues to air on Colors. He answered, “Both the shows are totally different. ‘Balika Vadhu’ was about a girl who gets married in childhood. But ‘Gangaa’ is about a young and outcast widow living in a society without a life of her own. Unless you watch the show, you cannot compare it (with ‘Balika Vadhu’).”
Looks like 'Gangaa' is another promising show that we can look forward to watch. What makes it even more enticing is the fact that Rakhee Tandon, who we have seen in hit soaps like 'Hum Paanch' and 'Heena', is making her comeback after a long lull.
‘Gangaa’ will go on air March 2nd onwards every Monday-Friday at 8.30 pm on &TV.
