Govinda borrows saree for wife Sunita to become iconic ‘Aunty No. 1’ again! (PICS)
Of all the on-screen avatars of Govinda, the one he donned in his famous comic caper, ‘Aunty No. 1’, is the most unforgettable one. And now, 17 years down line, Govinda embraced his famous look for the ‘Govinda Special’ episode of ZEE TV’s ‘DID Super Moms’.
The actor made sure to turn out looking perfect on-stage by wearing a pink chiffon saree borrowed from his wife Sunita. In fact, Govinda reveals that he had many options to choose from but he was keen on sporting the same kinda saree he wore in the film.
Adorned with that iconic look, Govinda came on-stage in his full form and danced to the title song of ‘Aunty No. 1’. His infectious smile and humour-inducing thumkas floored one and all. Further, he teased Geeta Ma and Terence with his one-liners and riotous punches.
Govinda shares his experience saying, “I have donned various looks for my movies and Aunty No1 is one of my most appreciated and popular avatar. I had so much fun doing that character, so, when the creative team discussed the idea to recreate the similar look in the show, I readily agreed for it. The response I received on the sets of Super Moms reminded me of the similar appreciation I garnered when I did that character years ago.” He, adds “The fact that DID Super Moms is the highest rated non-fiction show in the last two years on Indian television is very encouraging and humbling. DID is an iconic reality show by Zee TV and it is heartening to know the second season of DID Super Moms has also been very well received by audiences. The credit goes to the team at Zee TV, Geeta, Terence, Karan and the wonderful contestants. I’m enjoying my stint as judge on this show and this just the beginning; our Super Moms will continue dancing their way into the viewer’s hearts!”
