Diya aur Baati Hum: Sooraj, Sandhya empower a physically abused girl!
The couple of last episodes of ‘Diya aur Baati Hum’ came as a respite from the usual domestic brickbats and issues in the Rathi household. In the current track, Sandhya’s sis-in-law, Chhavi’s wedding preparations are on, but the makers tried to add in a social message to empower the viewers while getting entertained alongside.
It all happened when Sooraj took Sandhya to the hospital for an eye checkup ‘coz he doubted that she is having problem with her vision. And so it turned out when the doctor told them that Sandhya’s vision is distorted due to a disorder and it will take a year for her to recover. While leaving the hospital, the couple came across a family of a rape victim who was getting turned away by the doctor on duty because he did not want additional burden of medical examination and formalities that ensue in such cases. Looking at the insensitivity of the doctor, Sooraj and Sandhya stepped forward to lend a helping hand to the rape victim and her family. They chided the medical practitioner for avoiding his duties and even reprimanded the onlookers present on the spot for their baseless mindset which corners the girl as the abettor of the crime. The Good Samaritan, Sooraj, told the people that it is not the fault of the girl if she gets raped as it has nothing to do with the kind of clothes she wears.
By their undaunting effort, Sooraj and Sandhya succeeded in helping out the victim in a big way and even motivated them to fight the case against the perpetrator of the crime.
