The entire TV celeb circuit is coming out of the shock they received after knowing about Gauhar Khan's slapping incident on the sets of 'India's Raw Star' last Sunday.

Most of the actors blame the patriarchal mindset for the unfortunate event. Here is what they had to share with us:

Meghna Malik

It’s less a question of security and more a problem of termite-ridden mind set. It's no different from the situation faced few days back by the two young girls in Haryana roadways. It’s got nothing to do with religion; it's just that men believe that it's their birth right to tell women what's good and bad for them.

Rashami Desai

It’s unfortunate that such incident happened. It’s just not right. Such incidents are not acceptable. A woman irrespective of the religion has to be respected. Security is usually tight at the sets. But people should know their limits. Just because being a public figure, we are cordial and accessible during shoots, doesn’t mean anyone can say or do anything.

Vishal Singh

What happened should have not happened. In the name of religion no one has the right to comment just because someone is a Muslim and an actor. No one has the right to comment. Every woman can choose to wear whatever she is comfortable in. Religion has nothing to do with what one is wearing. We often shoot in public places or often crowds are there to watch shoot. Recently Hrithik Roshan also had a fan related incident inspite of security. We as celebrities are accessible but slapping an actress and giving any comments is not acceptable. Security should be more and onlookers shod be kept at a distance.

Adaa Khan

Did she disregard Islamic ayaats or Allah's name. What was that religious person doing at such an event and Islam doesn't give permission for man to touch a non-mahram lady; let alone slap her. He does not have the right to tell her what she needs to wear. She is a grown up individual living in a free country. Every person is answerable for their own deeds to ; so let him deal with us. Before acting religious that man should know his religion.

Divyanka Tripathi

This was the most ridiculous incident. I don't think anybody has the right to do moral policing. I don't understand how people can impose their opinion on any actor or celebrities. It is the celebrities’ choice how they want to dress up. No one can tell what clothes we should wear. It is a free society and that's how women of our society should be allowed to live. This person should be punished otherwise tomorrow any one will come and tell us to follow terms and conditions.

Ankur Verma

I think this is ridiculous. It's her life and it’s her body she can wear what she wants. First of all a man raising his hand on a woman is not a man, and that very act of his shows how insecure a person he is. I feel bad for Gauaha; as far as I know she has never been seen vulgarly dressed by me. And I hate it when people bring religion to vent their frustration. Well, what could have security done in this case. A security guy can't get intuition that someone is going to slap someone suddenly! These are sudden reactions which are under no one’s control. But I would definitely like to question the society and these so called religious leaders for promoting wrong concepts. We are struggling to live very base of our race and existence needs to be questioned from the very base of it.

Janvi Vora

Horrendous, deplorable! We as a society need to get over what others do. If a person is comfortable wearing certain clothes, he/she should be allowed to wear it. India is a progressive nation. How can people be so reactive? We can't be making mountain out of a molehill. No one has the right to slap anyone just like that.

Sandeep Anand

If it is true that the man used religion as a basis of his action, then it is unfortunate because no religion encourages violence of any kind. Having said that this incident brings out one important issue. One being that celebrities are a vulnerable lot especially at such public places. Agree, it means we have close interaction with our fans but it also puts us at certain risk because we are in the profession where emotions are involved. There will always be people who having very strong opinion about us; sometimes they can show it physically as in this case. Security is an important factor and should be taken seriously. But things can still happen.

Simple Kaul

I don't think the incident happened because the security was weak. Such incidents happen so fast that before you think to prevent any mishap, it’s already done. No one would have assumed that something like this would happen. It wasn't a political rally happening that the security would have been so alert. But the security eventually took the guy and handed him to the cops. I think it’s extremely stupid of the man to do this because no one has the right to disrespect a woman's dignity and who is he to do this to her in the first place ? Idiot! Muslim or not, in a democratic country like India and this day and age, a woman can wear anything that she wants to. I would have slapped him back and handed him over to the cops for sure to set an example that no one else encourages something so shallow like this.
