Arjun Kapoor is one of the popular actors from the younger lot that populates Bollywood today.

He stole hearts with his bad boy turns good boy act in ‘Ishaqzaade’, and it was no looking back for this Kapoor lad then onwards.

In the latest episode of ‘Look Who’s Talking’, Arjun spoke to host Niranjan Iyehgar in a freewheeling chat.

The actor was quizzed about what made him think to choose to be an actor. Arjun answered that he had thought of becoming an assistant director believing that being the son of a producer will help him make a career in the profession.
However, life changed for him when while shooting for Boney Kapoor’s ‘No Entry’, Arjun’s mentor Salman Khan noted the actor in him and inspired him to take up acting.

“You come and workout with me from tomorrow. I will make you an actor,” said Salman to Arjun one fine day on the sets of ‘No Entry’.

Arjun found Salman’s words surprising. “I said “me”. And he (Salman) said yes you!,” recounted Arjun during the conversation with Niranjan.

He also added, “At that point I just wanted to lose weight and working out with Salman was a big thing for me. And when someone like Salman showed conviction in me, I just decided to go with the flow.”

He also revealed that initially director Habib Faisal of ‘Ishaqzaade’ did not found Arjun as convincing for the role of the brute Parma. However, Aditya Chopra was confident that he could do it. “They wanted someone like Ranveer Singh after his khulla role in ‘Band Baaja Baarat”, said Arjun. After attending workshops, rehearsing the part of every character in the film, and travelling to Lucknow, Habib gave a go ahead to Arjun for the role.

The conversation then moved to Arjun’s actor sister Sonam. Here’s what he shared:

“Sonam, I and Rhea have been to the same school and have had the same set of friends. So we are like friends with each other. I am younger to Sonam but I have the elder brother instincts in me. Although, ever since I lost my mom, Sonam has become more protective of me.”

At this point host Niranjan quipped and said whether Arjun would need his sister’s approval for his girlfriend as well. To this Arjun’s reply was:

“I would need their stamp of approval when I get a girlfriend. I have to make her used to the company of my sisters as Sonam can be very honest on your face and even Rhea is honest and blunt.”

The ‘2 States’ actor also shared important tidbits about his equation with his late mother Mona, father Boney and step-mom Sridevi.

He said that his mother never poisoned his mind against Sridevi which made it easy for him to live with the fact about his father’s second marriage. “I never allowed that one fault my father made to affect all the decisions of my life. That was just a part of my life journey,” said Arjun.

He mentioned that his relationship with Sridevi is very cordial as he behaves the way with anybody in his father’s life the way he would expect his son to. “We are nice to each other for the sake of the man who we love,” stated Arjun.

About his late mother Mona Kapoor, he said that nothing in the world can hurt him now as his mother’s death shook him to the core. To get over the pain of his mother’s demise, he began attending events, parties because emptiness of his home started taking a toll on him. For a homely person like him who could spend hours sitting at home, losing his mother to death was a drastic change.

The good part is that Arjun could see his sister Anshula embody the same qualities as his mother did. She has been protective of him and looks after the home after Mona’s death.

And lastly, Arjun revealed his thoughts on the kind of girlfriend he would love to have.

“Someone with whom I could have a conversation! If I can’t have a talk with the girl for more than 2 minutes then I am sure that relationship won’t be able to work,” concluded the actor.
