Sony TV’s experimental streak continues with the Bachchans
Sony’s been well known for CID and Bade Acche Lagte Hain, but it’s also done a series of new-age shows like Mahi Way, Rishta.com and Kismat produced by Yash Raj TV. While they earn their bread and butter from the usual soaps operas and reality TV shows, they continue their experimental streak with two new shows planned for this year.
The first one is rumored to be called ‘Vasundhara’ starring Jaya Bachchan. It is inspired from a Gujarati Novel Yog-viyog about a single mother raising her three children and her tribulations as she does so. While we have no indication of a tentative launch date yet from the channel, the show should be on air by April.
The other show, which is planned for a late January launch has been directed by Anurag Kashyap and starring none other than the Bachchan male – Amitabh. This show is a finite-fictional series where Big B is a tycoon in a construction business. It's planned to release in May-June.
Well, here’s hoping that the shows gain popularity like the off-beat 24 on Colors TV did, continuing the trend of well-produced TV shows.
