EXCLUSIVE: What wrong have I done that people should joke about me, asks Alok Nath

TV and Film veteran, Alok Nath is raring to hit the small screen again. At the autumn of his life, he continues to explore different avenues for work with glee and refuses to hang his boots. The dignified actor loves adulation from his younger co-actors and shares a special bonding the TV folks. However, the Twitter/FB jokes that have gone viral on him have ceased to bother him. Read on to know what the actor shared with Pinkvilla.com:

What keeps you busy these days?

There are a few film projects and a TV serial that I have been planning to work on. The show is being produced by Rajshri Films and the shoot will start next month in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura town. The show will be about three generations of a family. The channel partner will be Life Ok. That’s all I can say for now.

We have usually seen you doing the same kind of roles in every film. Don’t you wish to experiment and break your on-screen image?

I have done some negative roles earlier but the audience did not like me doing those roles. That is why I get positive roles only. I can’t say no to them as I have to sit at home without any work then.

How a normal day in your life is like?

I live a normal life. I wake up early at around 6:30-7am. Then, I have tea, go for walk and have breakfast. After that, I go for to the gym else I go to my shoots. In the evening, I come back and spend time with my family, watch TV news and play with pet. Then we have dinner together.

Who are the best actors in the industry and the best directors?

Honestly, I don’t have any such friends in film industry as such but in the TV industry I know some people with whom I go out for dinner and partying. In films, I am professional with everyone but it’s nothing more than that. In the last eight years I have done few films but in TV you work 25 days and get to see your co-actors almost daily. That way you get to know each other better. My co-actors come home for dinner and even I go to their home for a get together. So, all in all, I have better relations with my TV colleagues.

What are your future plans? Is retirement on the cards?

My plan is to keep on working till my body and age allows. Also, my children now growing up and they want to get into this line. My daughter wants to get into film direction and I wish to become a producer. My son is assisting a director these days and he wants to train as an actor.

What is your message to the youngsters who are aspiring to be actors?

This industry is very good and offers creative work as well. Those who are aiming to make it big should be well - trained, disciplined and eager to learn. Young actors should not get disappointed as it takes time to settle down in this industry.

How are you taking the Twitter and FB jokes on you?

I don’t feel bad about them at all now.
But earlier I used to wonder why this was happening to me? What wrong have I done that people should joke about me? My character is also fine. Still, people started laughing on me all of a sudden. I am not even on FB or Twitter. It took me some time to come to terms with this incident. I have started taking it in my stride now. I believe that at least I can make people smile by way of such jokes which is a good thing in today’s sad world.

Will you do a comic role in future?
If I am offered a comic role then I will do it. Definitely do it.
