So yesterday marked the launch episode of the newborn Comedy Nights Live! Well, or what the channel refers to as Kapil's show CNWK's competition. And did it tickle your funny bone? We say, partially Yes! Though it wasn't easy for fans to suddenly accept seeing Krushna Abhishek in place of Kapil Sharma!

One was expecting Kapil to make his sudden usual entry from the common door, welcoming the audiences and Siddhu Paaji in his typical style. Yes, Kapil was present on the sets, but just in the form of a name. It wasn't easy for viewers to visualize Mika Singh taking over Siddhu's royal black chair. The first half of the show saw some forced one-liners followed by some fake audience laughter. Though Krushna tried his best in making it look natural but Kapil is Kapil!

A constant reminder of how the old tenants (Bittu Sharma and family) had to leave and Pappu Singh was the new tenant, of how Krushna and team are better than Kapil made the punches fall flat! New characters like a Gujarati irritating neighbour, Mangala and Sudesh Lehri as Krushna's father were introduced. Though both are amazing comedians, but could not match up to the aura of Pankhuri or Bittu's father-in-law, let alone Palak and Gutthi.

Probably, the only good part of yesterday's episode was the gorgeous Madhuri Dixit, who floored the audiences with her latkas and adaas. The second part of the show saw Bharti's entry as Bittus' son. The show picked up from there. The lady, in her famous child -like avatar made the audiences laugh out loud. With her innocence and perfect comic timing, the show started to look interesting from herein.  It won't be wrong if one says Bharti was the man of the match in the opening episode of the new show.

The passing of comments on audiences and making Mika's laughter sound funny could not match up to CNWK's charm. Intentionally reminding why Krushna is better than Kapil and how this show is more promising than the previous one, made it worse!

Overall although a good try, but matching up to the benchmark created by Kapil is going to be one big arduous task for Comedy Nights Live! For a change, there was no Thoko Taali, no jokes on Manju's lips, no hilarious introduction by Gutthi, no one to kiss the guests and no one to make insults look so subtle and funny!

We couldn't help but say, We miss you, Bittu Sharma and family!
