Diya Aur Baati Hum: New girl from Pakistan will be Bhabho’s youngest Bahu!
Until now we witnessed the foster son of Rathi family – Chotu – now a grown-up and promising young adult – returns to the family to seek their blessings after finishing his studies. After receiving a warm welcome from the Rathis, Chotu decides to visit his Dadi and brother in Ajmer. However, before embarking on the journey, Chotu buys gifts for his sister-in-law and Dadi with the help of Sandhya and Bhabho.
While shopping, Sandhya runs into a woman who tells her about the sudden demise of Chotu’s Dadi and how his brother and his wife have confiscated the property. With a broken heart, Chotu makes way for Ajmer after learning the truth. Sandhya and Bhabho accompany him to give him that much needed emotional support.
In the house, Chotu faces a lot of heart and taunts from his greedy sister-in-law. She creates a situation so that Chotu is left with no other option but to leave the family and lays no claim on the property. Bhabho gets moved to see Chotu getting such bad treatment from his blood relatives. She announces before all that hereon Chotu shall be her own son and assures him that he shall enjoy all the rights that Suraj and Vikram enjoy. Chotu’s heart wells up with gratitude to see Bhabho embrace him as his own and returns home to Pushkar. While handling the belongings of his late Dadi, Chotu drops an old picture of a woman. When Sandhya and Bhabho ask Chotu about the woman, he says that the picture is of a woman who was highly revered by his grandmother.
On the other hand, in Hyderabad city of Pakistan, the woman in the picture is introduced as Resham, an old lady now, who is trying for long to get visa for India. She turns out to be a friend of Chotu’s Dadi and a very gentle, determined and kind lady.
She visits the visa office in Pakistan yet again to get her work done. However, after much dilly-dallying, the new visa officer, grants her wish and puts the stamp on her visa papers to let her fulfil her dream. It is revealed that Resham wants to visit India to get her grand-daughter Aarzoo married to the grandson of Sita (Chotu’s Dadi).
