Bollywood actor Aarya Babbar is on a roll! Post his successful stint as Raavan in a mythological show, the 34-year-old actor is making his presence felt in Bipasha Basu’s Darr Sabko Lagta Hai on &TV! Upbeat about his new outing on television, Aarya opened up to Pinkvilla.com about freaked out on the sets while shooting for the horror show, a spooky experience and much more. Excerpts from the interview:

After doing a reality show like Bigg Boss, and writing your debut novel, then playing the villain Ravan in Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman on TV,  Darr Sabko Lagta Hai is a different thing you are doing. What prompted you to do this show?

I have a phobia of horror movies, stories and shows . I have never even read a book connected to horror genre forget watching a show! Darr Sabko Lagta Hai , is a show loved by my friends and family. When I got offered this role which I must say, is very complex and interesting, I got a kick with the idea of me being a part of the most horrifying horror show on television right now.

How is shooting for a horror show different from shooting for a show of a different genre?

It's a very weird experience ... It's like knowing you giving audience the creeps, but as an actor getting freaked out yourself . With every time I felt scared myself, whilst shooting my director kept complimenting me "Waah! Kya real expressions dete hai aap!" , as if he knows the expressions were real!

Can you recall a scary experience from your real life?

Not many believe this and I haven't told many too as I don't wish to relive that moment again, even in my head. Few years back, I was once shooting in Ramoji Rao film city (Hyderabad). Ramoji is in outskirts of Hyderabad, no civilisation near by the studio. I had heard stories that Ramoji was haunted. I was staying in there hotel Sitara which is said that it's made by all the sets and artefacts left by the art direction teams. I usually take time to sleep in a new place and a very light sleeper. In one such night, around 3 or 4am ...the moonlight could hardly make its way through the room as it was dark and dingy. I saw a figure sitting on the arm chair. Just sitting, not moving, quietly just sitting. My eyes which were half opened, stopped right at the figure and I wish they hadn't opened even that much. I froze, didn't move at all. The figure stood up, I still remember in that half dozed of state, the figure was wearing a tweed jacket. There was a hat that was kept on the table, he wore it and just slowly walked off towards the door. The door didn't open and there was no sound. I switched on the lights, walked around the room and went down to the lobby. Maybe I was dreaming, maybe it was a dream. Whatever it was, it was bad enough for me to never stay in that hotel again.

If you have to spend a day in a haunted house, which person would you choose to give you company?

Am I mad that I would wish this? (Laughs)
