Inspired Indian TV Shows From West Flicks
‘Following the Western Track ', has been the success mantra for some of the recent Indian TV shows. Having been inspired by the popularity of the Hollywood movies and shows, the Indian TV industry seems to be driving in the same direction. Initially some of the reality shows were remade in Hindi and other regional languages, but the trend has now reached the daily soaps of the small screen.
Let us take a look at some of the most popular shows that have been inspired from the west:
# 24: Directed by Abhinay Deo, this Indian TV drama is one of the first shows being remade from the American TV series of the same title. The show was a sensational hit, with the Bollywood popular actor 'Anil Kapoor' being the lead cast. Portraying the role of an anti-terrorist agent, the story revolves around his efforts on saving the whole country from a huge terrorist attack. The show surely paved way for many other series being remade in India.
# Kumkum Bhagya: This is a remake of the US television series 'Sense and Sensibility', which in-turn was adapted from a novel by Jane Austen, of the same name. Currently being aired on Zee TV, the script is a family drama of a lady and her two daughters, and revolves around their marriage lives. The Indian version is more of a romantic comedy, with focus on the lead Pragya and her rock-star husband Abhi.
# Ek Haseena Thi: Being a copy of the western prime-time series ' Revenge ', this television show is a suspense thriller. Sanjeeda Shaikh portrays the role of a strong female, who entangles her life with a royal family, seeking revenge for her sister who has previously been a victim of the vicious family. The show is ruled by dark emotions setting in from all directions and was indeed a brave experiment in the Indian TV industry.
# Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi: As the title suggests, this is a romantic story which has been inspired by 'Wuthering Heights'. The scenario is set on the teen life of a slave boy who deeply falls in love with his masters' younger daughter. With many of the Indian movies having been made with the same story line, this show is perfect for the local audience. The efforts of the actors and the crew have been well appreciated. The lead actors have a huge fan following.
# Comedy Nights with Kapil: Being one of the highest rated shows on the Indian TV channels, this show is one such example where the remake fares better than the original. The format is said to be inspired by the British TV show 'The Kumars at No 42'. Kapil Sharma rose to the title of being the best Indian comedian through this platform. Many of his Canadian NRI fans follow the show regularly and have also appeared to watch the show live.
These shows clearly indicate the revolution that the Indian TV industry is directed at. It has definitely attracted a large base of viewers for the live Indian TV and the trend is sure to continue for a long time.
