Siya Ke Ram: The story so far…

Nikhil Sinha’s Siya Ke Ram has had a no fuss start. So, here we did not get to see King Dashrath and his queens welcoming their infant sons in the family. Rather, we saw King Janak being blessing by Sita and Dashrath’s sons already living under Guru Vashisht’s tutelage.

In the show so far, we saw King Dashrath’s possessiveness for Ram and the fear of losing him due to the curse of Shravan Kumar’s parents leaving him without any peace of mind. Queen Kaikeyi is introduced having the potential to turn into a negative character in future. Meanwhile, she is staying unaffected with her chief attendant Manthara’s negative vibrations against Ram. And then there is queen Kaushalya who is a bit upset with her husband for hiding the truth about Ram’s sister. Queen Sumitra – the spiritual one – is someone who Dashrath could turn to when he needs genuine counsel and moral support.

On the other hand, we could see Sita being lovingly brought up by her saintly father Janak and good-hearted mother Sunaina. By now, Janak and his family knows that Sita is a goddess. Yet, Sunaina is fiercely guarding the secret about Sita’s real birth so that the fact that she is not her biological child, does not affect her adversely.

We also saw, after failing to keep her attachment for Ram under control, Dashrath at last makes it to Guru Vashisht’s ashram to see Ram. Rishi Vashisth allows Dashrath to be a spectator of his sons’ exam in archery and other martial arts. Vashisth and Dashrath get pleased to see Ram showing matchless archery skills and patience. Later, the young students are allowed by their Guru to meet their father in person.

To be continued…
