The kind of role I am essaying is a torch-bearer for family dramas on Indian television: Iqbal Khan
After winning a million hearts as the rock star Angad in Ekta Kapoor’s popular soap Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai (2005), Iqbal Khan, is back on the tube with the successful producer’s new show, Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do, also starring Mona Singh.
Iqbal, who was also seen in soaps like Tumhari Pakhi and Kahiin To Hoga, will be seen playing an ISI agent in the mature love story, Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do. “The kind of role I am essaying is a torch-bearer for family dramas on Indian television. I am glad I got to work with Ekta after a gap of ten years,” says Iqbal.
“Today, the roles are varied. They are not just typical saas-bahu dramas anymore. Earlier, the shooting schedules were maddening. We would literally never go home. But, things have changed. The content is superior, and everything is organised. It is a great place to be in at this point in time,” he adds.
The talented actor has been leaving no stone unturned to make his character appear interesting on the small screen. Doing so, Iqbal read a lot for what he considers as the ‘most difficult and complex’ character and also sat with the creative team for research.
Apparently, the actor also had two months of prep before the show went on air and 20 hours rehearsals daily to stay in the character. “I have nothing against saas bahu sagas but the theme of Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do is unique and something that’s not been attempted on the small screen before. The show is certainly the torch-bearer of family dramas on the Indian television.”
The show went air o Sony Entertainment Television in October this year and has been received well by the viewers. More power to the cast of the show!
