Diya Aur Baati Hum: Here's how Bhabho's new favourite Lalima is duping Suraj, Sandhya and the Rathis!
Lalima (Shefali Sharma), who had once risked her life to cure Suraj’s (Anas Rashid) mental illness, is now pining to unite with him. However, Sandhya, who Suraj brought back to Pushkar after a serious battle with the Naxals, is standing in Lalima’s way. None could see have seen Sandhya alive and return home once again had it not been for Suraj’s determination. Yet, Suraj and Sandhya’s reunion is incomplete as Bhabho is least willing to take back Sandhya knowing that she neglected her duty as wife and mother to perform her duty. Instead, she is hell-bent on settling Suraj with Lalima. What Bhabho does not know is the fact that Sandhya gave a bigger sacrifice and salvaged the nation from the naxal attack.
In the recent episodes, we saw Bhabho arranging Lalima’s muh-dikhayi ritual to introduce her as the eldest Rathi bahu and show it to Sandhya that she is not really needed in the family now. Lalima plays a trick to taint Sandhya’s image and asks her to sit in her place wearing her clothes for the muh-dikhayi while she is away with Suraj to sign the divorce papers at the lawyer’s office. Sandhya trusts Lalima and agrees to do as she said. During the ritual, Bhabho gets baffled to see Sandhya in Lalima’s place and blasts her for cheating on her. She refuses to hear any explanation from Sandhya and rushes to find Lalima and Suraj. She learns from Meenakshi that Lalima and Suraj have gone to the lawyer’s. On the other hand, Lalima and Suraj get done with the divorce formalities before Bhabho could reach out to them. Bhabho, however, resolves to give Lalima her rightful place and refuses to go by the dictates of the law. She brings Lalima home and tells the shocked guests present there that Lalima is her eldest daughter-in-law. Sandhya gets heartbroken and sad to see this.
Later, Mohit confronts Lalima and her brother Lokesh about lying to Bhabho and others about the whole affair. He shows them the clips shot by him which shows Lalima hiring a man to orchestrate a situation that would enable Meenakshi to witness Lalima to the court with Suraj so that Bhabho could be informed about it and the news would remain no secret. Mohit also says that he knows Suraj did not put any sindoor in Lalima’s hair as claimed by her; nor did any woman witnessed the act. Lalima and Lokesh get worried to get exposed by Mohit and ask him what he wants from them. Mohit blackmails them and asks for money so that he could shop and keep their secret to himself. Having left with no option, Lalima agrees to fulfil Mohit’s condition.
After Lokesh and Lalima are left alone, they discuss about their plan. Lalima feels bad about how Suraj chucked her like hot potato and left her alone to search for Sandhya forgetting how she staked her like for his recovery. Lokesh encourages Lalima to go ahead with their plan as Sandhya is an IPS officer and she can lead life on her own, while she (Lalima) has put her all at stake for Suraj. Hence, she deserves him at any cost. Lalima gets inspired by Lokesh’s support and resolves to separate Suraj and Sandhya and celebrate Karva Chauth with the man she loves.
