Contrary to his on-screen image of an ideal patriarch, Alok Nath, has turned over a new leaf in his acting career to try his hand in a negative role after a long haul.

After being typecast as a positive character, the ‘Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai’ actor returns to the tube as a man bound by regressive ideas in Rajan Shahi’s ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’.

Alok Nath recently entered the show as Tara’s (Umang Jain) grandfather who visits Akshara and Naitik’s restaurant to have tea. Understanding no difference between English tea and the Indian tea, he places order for the former. Hell breaks loose when Alok’s character blasts the wait staff for serving him inedible tea. Akshara takes charge of the situation in Naitik’s absence and tries to solve the issue. However, she gets appalled when the old man starts insulting her for interfering in the matter and daring to handle the affairs of men when she has no right to do so. He crosses the line of decency by calling the restaurant a hub of looters and money minters. Akshara, after bearing witness to her husband’s insult, politely asks the old man to leave. This baffles the old man and hurts his ego. He leaves the place in a huff, but forgets to take his reading glasses along.

Soon after, we see the old man meeting his granddaughter Tara outside the restaurant and forbidding her to visit it. Tara lies to him about going for a debate on Indian heritage, when in reality she has to visit another town for selection in a hockey team.

The story will pick pace hereon as Naksh, who has lost his heart to Tara, will try his best to ensure his crush gets chosen in the hockey team. We won’t be surprised if Tara gets impressed with Naksh’s gesture and falls for him. However, it will be interesting to watch the clash between the ideology of the liberal Singhanias and Tara’s grandfather once the question of marriage of the two pops up.
