Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma's Babita SLAMS people for clicking selfies at Kavi Kumar Azad's funeral
Kavi Kumar Azad passed away on Monday leaving the entire television industry shocked and saddened. Munmun Dutta plays the role of Babita on the show.
Television actor Kavi Kumar Azad, who was popular among his fans for essaying the role of Dr. Hathi on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, passed away on Monday due to a cardiac arrest. His death left his entire family, friends, fans, and colleagues in utter shock and disbelief.
The actor's last rites and the funeral were carried out on Tuesday, which was attended by all his co-stars and a number of other television actors. His fans gathered in huge numbers to get one last glimpse of their favourite actor. However, some people misbehaved at the venue, and this did not go down well with Taarak Mehta actor Munmun Dutta, who plays the role of Babita on the show.
She took to her Instagram stories to share her anger at the people who were laughing and trying to click pictures and selfies with the other stars at that time. She wrote, "I am really appalled with the way people were behaving when we went to pay our last respect to Hathi Bhai at his house before his cremation. Clicking selfies, shoving cellphones in our faces, making videos, be it aunties, uncles or even younger ones."
"I shouted at two people for shoving their cellphones in my face in the crowd. I saw people in the neighbouring building laughing while spotting us and clicking our pics. I saw zero respect on their faces, and left the place before it turned into a tamasha for others,” she added.
Kavi Kumar Azad played the role of Dr. Hathi for nine long years, having replaced actor Nirmal Soni, who played the role for a year since the show premiered. Apart from the small screen, Kavi has also featured in films like Aamir Khan’s Mela, Jodha Akbar, and Funtoosh.
