Kavi Kumar Azad, who played the role of Dr Hathi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah passed away this month. The makers are now looking for an actor to play his character on the show.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Kavi Kumar Azad, who played the role of Dr Hathi in the show passed away on July 9 due to a heart attack. His character Dr Hathi was one of the funniest and most loved characters on the show.
The makers of Taarak are now looking for someone to play his role. As reported by Indian Express, a source informed, "Dr Hathi is a very important part of the show. The audience loves him and so the makers want to retain the character. Producer Asit Kumarr Modi is personally looking into the casting and wants the perfect replacement. While it’s really hard to find someone as talented as Kavi, we are doing our best. We should have a confirmation about the replacement soon."
The source informed the daily that actor Nirmal Soni, who initially played Dr Hathi's role in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah might be back to play the character. Niral Soni was replaced by Kavi Kumar Azad in 2009.
Kavi Kumar Azad's untimely demise left the cast of the show heartbroken. The celebs took to their social media places to share their thoughts and offer their condolences to the late actor.
Show's producer Asit Kumarr in a statement called Kavi an amazing actor and a positive person. Kumarr mentioned, "He truly loved the show and always came for the shoot even if he was not feeling well. He called today morning that he is not well and will not be able to come for the shoot. And later we got the news that he passed away. We are all too numb to say anything."
