In the aftermath of the surgical strike conducted by Indian Air Force on the terror camps located in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, Pakistan Cinema Exhibitors Association announced a ban on telecast of Indian films in the country. Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain also said that he has instructed the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to crackdown on "made-in-India advertisements" in the nation as well.
In sharp retaliation to the decision, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actor Karan Patel couldn't help himself from taking a jibe. He wrote, "Jo pehle se hi Pirated dvd pe humari hindi filmein dekh dekh ke bade hue hai, woh humari flimon ki release ki baatein kar rahein hai ... Aur in ch*tiyon ko kashmir chahiye .... " Co-quoting another news on Pakistan Defence Minister's statement regarding the strike, he wrote, "Not just that, I wonder why didn’t they think of calling Batman to help, or may be they did but Batman laughed it off thinking."

Meanwhile, the Indian Government's retaliation was in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack which was carried out by the Jaish-E-Mohammed cadres on February 14, 2019. More than 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel lost their lives in the terror attack carried out by a suicide bomber in the region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured the nation of a befitting reply post the attack.
