Ssumier Pasricha aka Pammi Aunty became an internet sensation with his screen character Pammi which managed to win several hearts.
The actor, Ssumier, completed 8-years in Mumbai recently and revealed that he left a successful career as a businessman to pursue a career as an actor. He also mentioned that it as Boman Irani's speech at an awards function that motivated him to take this step.
Reacting to his story, Boman tweeted, "That's too sweet of you, my friend. Honoured and delighted to hear that."
Recently, opening up on his journey, Ssumier said, 'My struggles are no different than any other aspiring actor. I shared room with 3 other people, managed my expenses & would have coffee at home to save those 100 bucks at a local coffee shop, the usual. Nothing really materialized & I was ready to go back to my family business but right there I got my first ad so I stayed. Another ad came around 6 months later, so I made a total of Rs. 20,000 in one year. It was only possible because I had my family's support.'
"When you're struggling, you don't get to decide what kind of work you want to do. I went for auditions everyday & was open to any role that came along because when you're starting out no job is small. But to be honest I could only survive because of my parents & I mean it because more than financial backing, you need emotional support to get going. It wasn't easy to leave everything behind & start afresh, but my father said to me 'hum baithe haina' , these 3 words gave me the calm I needed after a stressful day. I wouldn't have been able to survive that long without work if it wasn't for my parents. It's an expensive city. After a year when I got a role in Sasural Simar Ka, it wasn't a meaty role but I wanted it badly & did it for over 3 years & things did get better. I know of people who came to Mumbai & immediately got work & thought they could get anything they lay their hands on, I've seen them ruin their lives & head back home. It's about the climb, the struggle was real but my family made it easier for me & I've learnt to not take things for granted & value time & money," he added.
