Sona Mohapatra slams Indian Idol makers for considering MeToo accused Anu Malik to judge season 11
Sona Mohapatra, who lauded the women last year for speaking up against the likes of Anu Malik and Kailash Kher, seems to be upset with Anu Malik's return to the singing reality show.
Months after sexual harassment allegations surfaced against singer and music composer Anu Malik in the MeToo row, the reality judge has now been reportedly reinstated on the latest season of Indian Idol. A source earlier told Pinkvilla, “The channel has yet again approached Anu Malik for the show. The singer is yet to confirm his dates but given that no legal action was taken to prove the accusations against him, Malik is not on the ‘hit’ list anymore.”
Now, the news of Anu Malik returning to the seat has not gone down with a member of the music fraternity. Sona Mohapatra who lauded the women last year for speaking up against the likes of Anu Malik and Kailash Kher seems to be upset with Anu's return. The singer took to Twitter and quoted the victim's earlier statement and said, ““Anu Malik unzipped his pants, sexually harassed me: Two more women reveal their @IndiaMeToo stories” This is the pervert @sonymusic & #IndianIdol want back around young girls & boys?”.
Singer Shweta Pandit had called him a paedophile and accused him of making moves on her when she was 15. Meanwhile, after the accusations were levelled against Malik in 2018, he in a written statement had said, “I, Anu Malik, have decided to take a break from Indian Idol as I am currently unable to focus on my work, my music and the show.” Check out Sona's tweets below:
Apart from Anu Malik, Vishal Dadlani and Neha Kakkar are expected to return and perform their judging duties in the upcoming season of Indian Idol 11.
