Sona Mohapatra REACTS to Anu Malik stepping down as Indian Idol judge 11 judge, Calls it a 'symbolic victory'
After Anu Malik's voluntary decision to step down as Indian Idol judge 11 judge, Sona Mohapatra on Twitter shared the happiness of her victory.
The controversy around Indian Idol judge 11 judge Anu Malik owing to his #MeToo allegations have been making headlines for quite some time now. And after a lot of backlash and flak from all over, a fresh turn of events has taken place. Anu Malik has voluntarily stepped down as the judge of the popular reality show. However, he hasn't exited the show forever, but will return after his name from the allegations have been cleared, and is merely taking a break of three weeks from the show.
Talking to Pinkvilla about the same, Anu Malik clarified, “I have taken this decision voluntarily because I could not take the malicious allegations anymore and wants to return once my name is cleared off. The channel has been very supportive.” And now after Anu's decision to step down from the show, singer Sona Mohapatra, who had called out Anu for his sexual misconduct, has taken to Twitter to express her stance on the same. Calling it a 'symbolic victory' for all women who have faced sexual harassment, Sona Mohapatra thanked everyone who has been supporting her through her journey and her campaign “#MoveOutMalik”.
She recently took to Twitter and wrote, "Thank you to all the women & men & the media of India who supported our campaign #MoveOutMalik . A repeat offender like Anu Malik on national tv triggered a lot of trauma, pain & stress in many of our lives. I have been ill for a while & I hope to sleep well tonight.”

For the uninitiated, sexual harassment charges have been levied on Anu Malik by not one but two or three women. Despite being thrown out from Indian Idol's previous season, he returned as a judge this season. And this left everybody fuming with anger and disgust. While Twitter users called him out and demanded his exit, Sona Mohapatra fought this ugly war with great courage. It was because of her repeated standings on the matter that forced the channel to take the necessary action against this.
