Sona Mohapatra on Indian Idol 11 judge Anu Malik's open note: He needs to go to a sex rehab or counselling
After Anu Malik’s open note yesterday, Sona Mohapatra has responded to his allegations. Here’s what she said.
Yesterday, former Indian Idol judge Anu Malik penned down an emotional letter on social media where her expressed how he was being side-lined for something he had not done. He also mentioned that these allegations have tarnished his image and marred his career. For the unversed, Anu Malik has been in the news as his name was brought into the #MeToo movement for sexual harassment allegations. And today, Sona Mohapatra, who had accused Anu Malik of sexual misconduct, has given a stern reply to the latter’s note.
Sona, who is also a singer by profession, took to Twitter to lash out at Anu Malik with a brief note. Her note contained 8 comprehensive points, where she explained everything Anu Malik had blamed her for, in his letter last evening. Sharing the big letter, she wrote, “Anu Malik finally wrote back to all of us last evening. My response to him, next to his letter. In case mine is too long to read, have also attached a shorter, crisper one, one amongst many on my timeline. Thank you @KallolDatta for saying it better #India @IndiaMeToo.”
Sona in her letter mentioned all the names of women including Neha Bhasin and Shweta Pandit, who had accused Malik of sexual harassment. Malik had denied the allegations saying that they are unverified in yesterday’s letter. Replying to Malik’s claim, Sona said that there are multiple testimonies independent and sane women who have a common story. She even questioned him of the negligence towards their mental health saying, who had been traumatised because of his ill deeds. She wrote, “What about the mental health of the good India & all the victims & their families when they see you flaunting yourself on TV? Rubbing it in? Your free pass in society?”
Malik had also accused these allegations of destroying his career and being thrown out as the judge of Indian Idol 11. Lashing him out for the same, Sona mentioned that he has no right to be given an opportunity on National TV, until he changes. She also said that if he is facing financial issues, he can do other jobs, but he isn’t worthy of becoming a role model. “You could always take a break, go to a sex-rehab or counselling or somewhere to reflect on how to behave better. Ask your kids to do a hard days job & earn a salary,” wrote Sona. Further, she even asked him to show some remorse and apologise for whatever he has done to try to mend things.

Taking a dig at him for using social media and even having the audacity to give explanations=, she said that merely being a father of two daughters does not prove anything. She said that his evil acts are evident with the history he has. “‘Some’ Men will just be that, the show must go on. Without you. Don’t jeopardise the hard work of so many people & the dreams of so many contestants just for your personal glory & ambitions,” Sona Mohapatra.
Replying to his statement of approaching the court, Sona requested him to please go ahead with his intentions. She further warned him that it is not only these 10 testimonies that she has, she will ensure many more for making things right. She worte, “Let’s set a precedent for India, Mr Anu Malik. Let’s make sure no one feels like behaving like you have over the decades. For the unversed, Sona Mohapatra was the first woman to call out Malik last year. She had claimed that Malik would call her at odd hours for meetings and also passed a snide comment at her calling her “maal” in front of her husband Ram Sampath.
