Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai Rupali Ganguli recounts the horrific incident of getting assaulted before her son
Rupali Ganguly recounts the horror of getting into a road rage incident before her four-year-old son. She also stressed on the urgency to address onlookers' apathy.
Rupali Ganguly of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai fame recently encountered a horrific incident when she along with her son and the caretaker was assaulted by a bike rider on Friday. This happened after Ganguly's car accidentally brushed against their bike leaving them enraged to the level that they smashed her car's window leaving her with bruises. The TV actor recalled feeling helpless at the moment and said that the "worst part of this entire ordeal was that the onlookers' did not come forward to help.
“Nobody even bothered to get off their vehicle. Nobody came forward to help. The much-touted spirit of Mumbai is long gone,” Ganguly shared sadly to Mumbai Mirror and added, "I had never been that scared. I have come back from work at the oddest of hours, but I never had such an experience." The incident happened near the Bharat Nagar signal junction in Andheri West, Mumbai, during the early morning hours while she was on her way to drop her son to school.
"I didn’t even realise that my car had touched their bike until one of them started to bang the bonnet. He started hurling abuses at me. I folded my hands and apologised, as I had my son and my 20-year old caretaker with me. I didn’t want to get into a brawl with them around," she recalled.
The men identified as Mahesh Mokal and Akash Dhatkar, however, took this too seriously and banged the car leaving Rupali's four-year-old scared. He then smashed the car windows. “Some shards of glass cut my hand. Seeing my bloody arm, my child started to scream. I managed to get away and took him to school, but the authorities told me to take him home as he was petrified,” the TV actor stated.
Rupali approached the police shortly who tracked the miscreants down. “The policemen were extremely helpful. In my state of panic, I had forgotten to note the bike’s licence plate or take the men’s photographs, but they tracked the bikers down quickly."
"They (bullies) apologised profusely and so did their mothers," Rupali revealed but added that the men used "we were angry then" as the trump card to explain their behavior.
She concluded by saying, "I’m scared about retaliation now. These men should mend their ways, at least for the sake of their mothers."
