Rival Krushna Abhishek to play Kapil Sharma in his biopic?
Kapil Sharma is one of the most popular comedians on Indian television. Recently, it is been reported that a biopic will be made on the comedian's life and his character would be essayed by none other than competitor Krushna Abhishek.
There was a time when Kapil Sharma and comedy were almost synonymous. Kapil had become a household name in the country with his show Comedy Nights With Kapil. The comedian even had a huge fan base in foreign countries.
However, the comedian went through a tough phase of depression and alcohol abuse, which resulted in his downfall. The man who was once ruling the TRP charts had to abruptly shut down his show owing to his problems.
An outsider hailing from Amritsar, Kapil has a true rags-to-riches story. Thus, filmmaker Vinod Tiwari has decided to make a biopic on the comedian's life. And guess who is roped in to play Kapil Sharma? It's none other than his arch-rival Krushna Abhishek.
When contacted Tiwari, he told Mumbai Mirror, "Kapil has started from scratch and it would be very interesting to put his journey from Amritsar to Mumbai on the silver screen. I really wish that Kapil does this film but if he doesn't do it, then Krushna Abhishek, who has worked very closely with Kapil would be the perfect choice for my film. I have shared the concept with Krushna and he is very excited to work on this project. But, we are planning to get Kapil on board."
He further said that he has this biopic in mind since 2010. "In 2010 too, I wanted to do a film on Kapil but things didn't work but now I have producers too, who have always wanted to work with Kapil. I am not Rajkumar Hirani, but I will try my best to showcase the life of Kapil in the best possible way. That is why I have also registered the name of the film as The Kapil Sharma-Real Hero," he said.
He informed Mirror that the concept is all ready, and if all goes well then the film will go on floors later this year.
