Popular TV actress Alka Kaushal is being upheld by Sangrur court in Punjab and might have to serve a two-year jail term. As per a leading daily, Alka and her mother failed to defend themselves in a cheque bounce case and have led them to the jail term.

Reports have it, Alka and her mother borrowed about INR 50 lakh from a farmer staying in Lagrian village for making a TV show. But they did not return back the money.

Reportedly, she gave the farmer's advocate two cheques of INR 25 lakh each which bounced.

Later on, the farmer then moved to Malerkotla court in the year 2015, who has sentenced Alka and her mom to jail for two years.

Alka even appealed to Sangrur court for some relief but they were upheld there even then. Now, the mother-daughter duo is in Sangrur district jail.

This is really a huge news!

Alka is popular for her roles in shows namely Qubool Hai, Swaragini and Kumkum. She was roped in to play the god woman named Kranti Maa in the show Santoshi Maa.

Speaking about the role, Alka had earlier said, "Kranti maa is a role, unlike anything that I have done before. I am a God-fearing person in life but I also don’t follow anyone blindly. This role was challenging for me as we were walking a thin line and didn’t want to hurt anyone’s beliefs. My character wears a lot of jewellery and will be seen in a red colour outfit."

Alka has worked in a few films too. She is known for playing Kareena Kapoor Khan's mother in Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Kangana Ranaut's mom in Queen.
