2017 was indeed an extremely controversial year. A lot of things happened this year and some things just went way too overboard. Controversies like actors fighting or show flopping is not just the case here, but some unacceptable things like rape cases and domestic abuses also took place. 2017 shocked us with these major controversies, whether it was the Piyush Sahdev's rape case or Mandana Karamini filing a domestic violence case against her husband Gaurav Gupta. Let's take a look at the top 7 major controversies in the Television world of 2017.

1) Piyush Sahdev rape case

It was deeply saddening when we learned that TV actor Piyush Sahdev was booked was rape charges. A complaint was filed against him by a woman who was in a physical relationship with Piyush, but after an argument, Piyush forced himself onto her. The entire case took us by surprise and initially nobody knew what to say as there was no proof, but once the medical reports had come out, Piyush was guilty of rape and it's just very hard to digest and we hope justice is served to the lady. 

2) Akshay Kumar and Mallika Dua controversy

Akshay Kumar and Mallika Dua were sharing screen space on the comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge where Akshay had made the remark "Mallikaji aap bell bajaaiye, main aapko bajaata hoon". This didn't go down well with Mallika's father Vinod Dua who had openly slammed Akshay for using such kind of language. The issue became bigger and bigger where a lot of people got involved and Mallika even said that such work etiquette shall not be tolerated. Well, it's really sad to see a big-time movie star to have such poor work ethics.

3) Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover controversy

2017 was definitely in for a lot of controversies and the biggest one being the famous Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover fallout. Everything was fine until one day in 2017 Sunil Grover decided to quit The Kapil Sharma Show leaving his fans sad and upset, the reason was told by him after a few days and that was Kapil's misbehavior towards him. After that, a series of tweets and messages were released between Kapil and Sunil trying to put their point and Kapil even apologised and tried to clarify things but Sunil was headstrong and didn't join the show, eventually due to low TRPs and Kapil's ill health due to excessive drinking, the show went off air.

4) Pehredaar Piya Ki controversy

How can we not mention Pehredaar Piya Ki in the list of controversies? This show created a huge stir in not just the audience's homes but also the Television industry itself. The show borderline promoted pedophilia, which is not acceptable at all. Te show was slammed by various people and eventually was taken down overnight.

5) Mandana Karimi domestic violence controversy

The news of Mandana Karimi to have filed a case against her husband Gaurav Gupta over domestic violence took the internet by storm. The couple who got married in January seemed to have stumbled upon difficult times. Apparently, Mandana who was forced to leave her matrimonial house has gone ahead and slapped a domestic violence case on her husband Gaurav Gupta's face. After a series of fights and sessions of clarifications, Mandana withdrew the case and is apparently back with her husband Gaurav Gupta. 

6) Juhi Parmar and Sachin Shroff divorce controversy 

After a blissful marriage of 8 long years, Kumkum fame Juhi Parmar and her husband have filed for a divorce leaving all their fans and well-wishers in shock. According to reports, things were not exactly well between the two of them since the past year and finally now in December 2017 the two have decided to split with mutual consent. 

7) Amit Tandon's wife controversy 

Actor Amit Tandon’s wife Ruby Tandon, who is a well-known dermatologist, was remanded in a jail in Dubai for threatening some government officials. Ruby, who has television celebrities like Mouni Roy, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Iqbal Khan, Vikram Bhatt, producer Suhana Sinha, in her clientele list was allegedly held in remand at Al Raffa jail, after some DHA (Dubai Health Authorities) complained against her. But the actor maintained that his wife has been framed and someone levied false accusation on her.
