Namit Khanna speaks about quitting modelling and taking up a TV show
Namit Khanna, who stars in Yeh Pyaar Nahi To Kya Hai spoke at length about quitting modelling and taking up acting in a television show.
Namit Khanna was a part of thriller web series Twisted alongside Nia Sharma. Now, he stars in the show titled Yeh Pyaar Nahi To Kya Hai. The model-turned-actor spoke at length about coming from a modelling background.
Namit stated, "Modelling is more about carrying a certain attitude and walking on the ramp showcasing the clothes you wear. After doing that for many years, you get used to keeping your face expressionless. Then, when you suddenly take the plunge into acting, it becomes difficult to start emoting. It is a fact that most models who turn actors have not been able to emote well on screen. But we all learn and over the years, maybe, everyone improves."
When asked about quitting modelling, he said, "Most plum modelling assignments are lapped up by Bollywood actors and sports stars. That leaves us with little to do or showcase ourselves on the ramp. There is nothing wrong with roping in B-Town stars, but it does affect the modelling community. I felt that the profession wasn’t lucrative enough and around the same time, this TV show was offered to me."
The show is being set in Delhi which is Namit's hometown. Talking about the same, Namit said, "It’s an interesting role, I am playing a lawyer. But shooting in Delhi hasn’t gotten me any closer to my home. The set is situated in Noida, a long distance from where I stay in Vasant Vihar in Delhi. So, I hardly get to go home and meet my family."
