Nakuul Mehta is currently winning hearts as Shivaay in the show Ishqbaaaz. His chemistry with Surbhi Chandna who plays Annika in the show is the highlight of this successful show.
Nakuul Mehta is also one of the fittest actors. The actor is very careful about his health, workout and eating habits. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Nakuul said, "As actors, the only way to conserve and preserve yourself, which I learnt the hard way, is to keep a check on what you eat. Usually, because you are on the go and working for long hours, you pick up whatever is available to you. Many times food means quick gratification. I saw the effects of these habits on my body. My immunity reduced and I didn’t feel quite as energetic. When you are an actor, you are not just acting, but also doing events, dancing, travelling regularly, and social engagements. So, I decided to do things I could control, which included my diet."
The actor has turned vegetarian recently. About this change, he revealed, "I was a vegetarian, so switching was easier, though I do miss pan a lot. It was my go-to food item in every meal. It has been an adjustment but today, I feel far more energetic and feel lighter. Studies show that no other animal on the planet drinks the milk of another animal, and also that selling milk was turned into a business by humans. Cows produce milk for their babies but now they are injected with steroids to produce enough milk to run businesses. Moreover, the milk we consume isn’t digestible by our intestines and that’s why when we have a glass of milk, we feel full because we are not able to digest it for hours. Basically, I understood all this and so it was easy for me to give it up."
He further added, "I feel lighter and my skin is much better, and the energy I feel is on another level. Diet not only determines the aesthetics of your body but also how you feel. The idea to turn vegan wasn’t to lose weight but to adopt a diet which was sustainable and doesn’t become bothersome. There are vegan options in many restaurants around the world, which we found out while we were in Japan a while ago."
