Producer and writer of the very popular TV show of the 90’s, Tara, Vinta Nanda had accused Alok Nath of sexual harassment. Vinta opened up about the same in a heart-wrenching Facebook post about rape, brutalization, isolation and harassment. She shared why she kept quiet for 19 years and credited Tanushree Dutta for motivating her to speak up as a part of #MeToo Movement. Though she did not name him, she called the predator the most ‘sanskari’ actor in television and films.

Later, Alok Nath had filed a civil defamation suit against Vinta Nanda, who accused him of rape. He had even sought a written apology along with a compensation of Rs 1. Now, according to reports, Alok Nath's counsel, Ashok Saraogi, dismissed Vinta Nanda's whole accusation that she had mentioned in a long post saying that her depression of 10 years and drinking habits rendered her unable to discern who she went back home to. The lawyer called the entire narrative as fictitious. "She just realised that she has experienced pain, but she does not say where the pain is. After drinking you get a hangover, that too causes pain,” said Saraogi.

According to the lasted report in Mumbai Mirror, Civil Court in Dindoshi has rejected Alok Nath's wife's application to restrain Vinta Nanda from making any statements (print, television, or social media) against him, till the defamation suit is finally decided. The court has reserved its order on Alok Nath's plea seeking that Vinta should not give any statements against him to the media.
