Ishqbaaaz: Shivaay to cross all limits; to forcefully marry Annika calling her his 'mistress'

Angry young man, damsel in distress and a love story binding the two opposites together have always made for a spicy drama on television. However, Ishqbaaaz changed the template by introducing a damsel who can cause distress to many alongside an angry young man whose journey of redemption was one of a kind.

However, now, in a parallel universe, Shivaay [played by Nakuul Mehta] is more about enduring pain which makes him a twisted man and an enigma to many. On the other hand, Annika [played by Surbhi Chandna] is a more reserved, silent person who knows when and how to display her 'khidkitod' self.

BUT in a shocking move, Shivaay will be seen forcing Annika into a marriage in a fit of rage. If that wasn't enough, he is seen calling her a 'mistress' in the promo shared by producer Gul Khan. The 15-seconds clip will leave you numb and disgusted at the same time. It leaves you with an unsettling feeling which probably is the intention. Let us also take a moment to appreciate how convincingly did Nakuul and Surbhi perform that scene.

Meanwhile, according to the story so far, Shivaay's sister will slip into a coma after she is ditched by her fiance Daksh at the altar. It will be seen that Daksh will blame Annika for the same which will leave Shivaay enraged to the extent that he will hit a new low, something beyond redemption, in fact. It is now to be seen how Annika will react to the situation. If reports are to be believed, Annika will call for a press conference declaring herself to be Shivaay's wife, in contrast to sulking and feeling hopeless.

Coming to the scene, was there a need to be this harsh? We don't know. It is not something we can pass a judgement on without watching the episodes. But is it justifiable to time and again romanticise the idea of misconduct against women? No. Certainly not.
