From Ishqbaaaz to Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, here are 5 quintessential Karwa Chauth twists on TV
From Ishqbaaaz to Kasauti Zinda Ki, here are the 5 typical Karwa Chauth scenes.
Just like a Karan Johar movie, Indian Television is obsessed with grandeur and festivals. With aesthetic looking sets, beautifully decked up men and women and a melodious song adding to the romantic vibe, a passionate tale has always been in the making. Karwa Chauth is no different!
Karwa Chauth is one festival which celebrates the romantic relationship between a couple with wives essentially fasting for their respective spouses the whole day. While in Bollywood movies, the festival adds to the glamour quotient, the moon festival has several significances on Television.
It is the time when fandoms wait with bated breath to catch some romantic scenes of their favourite onscreen couples. While for budding love stories, the festival would mean some hit and miss romantic scenes, for some it could end up bringing in a major twist in the tale.
As couples today tangle along to celebrate this festival, we walk down the memory lane to write down five quintessential Karwa Chauth twist on Indian Television:
1. Trick and Win: One of the famous scenes for this category is from Dill Mill Gaye when Armaan Malik (played by Karan Singh Grover), who had kept fast, tricks Riddhima (played by Shilpa Anand) into believing that he has fainted and she ends up feeding him water, whilst breaking his fast. Now, this does add spice to the romantic drama, isn't it?

2. Destiny: If you may recall in Star Plus' popular show Ishqbaaaz, Shivaay Singh Oberoi (played by Nakuul Mehta) ends up breaking Annika's (played by Surbhi Chandna) fast in an attempt to save her from fainting. This happened while his fiance was waiting for him to break her fast in the background. Well, such scenes are used to signify that come what may the lovebirds are destined to unite.

3. Revenge: It doesn't take a moment for the romantic festival to turn fatal for some of the characters on the tube. In Kasauti Zindagi Ki, the festival brought a huge twist in the plot when Aparna (played by Geetanjali Teetekar) kills Anurag (played by Cezzane Khan) just after completing the Karwa Chauth ritual.

4. Role Reversal: It is almost endearing to see men performing the rituals for their wives. One of the very few shows to show this is Bade Acche Lagte Ho. The scene where Ram Kapoor (played by Ram Kapoor) gazes at the moon and then Priya Sharma (played by Sakshi Tanwar) is still considered one of the best scenes on TV.

5. Happy faces: It is seldom that you will find onscreen couples performing Karwa Chauth without much of a twist and drama. In Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Arnav (Played by Barun Sobti) and Khushi (played by Sanaya Irani) celebrated the festival subtly without any major plot twist, which is a rarity and hence makes an entry in this list.
