Ishqbaaaz fame Mandana Karimi: No one should take it for granted that harassment is part of the film industry
Ishqbaaaz fame Mandana Karimi, who had recently opened up about her Me Too story, stated in an interview, no one should take it for granted that harassment is part of the film industry.
Mandana Karimi, who stars in Star Plus' Ishqbaaaz, was amongst the brave women who came out in the open about their Me Too story. She openly spoke about her alleged horrific experiences with both Sajid Khan and Umesh Ghadge. While auditioning for Humshakals (2014), Sajid had speculatively told Mandana, 'My set is very friendly and I get close to my actors. For this character. I need to see your body.' This statement was made in spite of the fact that Sajid had Mandana's pictures.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Mandana spoke about how she wants to see the Me Too movement make a change in India also. "It’s a wave in the ocean that should not be back to normal," Mandana stated. Talking further about why women feel scared and don't name their predators, Mandana shared that it takes the energy out of the victim. However, the actress stressed that it is better if you talk about it and take it out of your system.
"No one should take it for granted that harassment is a part of the film industry, and one has to sleep around to get work," Mandana said.
Sajid was asked to step down as the director of Akshay Kumar's Housefull 4 post the sexual harassment allegations by several women. Talking about how she is happy about the repercussions that alleged sexual predators are facing, Mandana feels that such actions may help in changing things and people from committing such heinous acts.
