If I had a kid, I won't want him or her to take part in reality show: Dance India Dance ex judge Terence Lewis
The popular dance choreographer, and ex-judge of dance reality shows, Terence Lewis is of the opinion that kids should not feature in reality shows. Read on to know why he wouldn't want his kids to participate in any reality show.
Dance India Dance and similar reality shows have helped many people as it has acted as an ideal launchpad and also aided in giving the right platform for many untapped talented souls of India. But again with the pros, there are many cons as well. There has been an ongoing debate on how kids should not be exposed to the world of entertainment or participate in reality shows at a very young age. Recently, Information and Broadcast Ministry advised channels to avoid suggestive and age-inappropriate moves for kids on such shows.
Now, popular dance choreographer, and ex-judge of dance reality shows, Terence Lewis is also of the opinion that kids should not feature on reality shows. He said, “Technically, they should be banned for kids on television, and parents should also regulate the same. Such dances make them precocious in a certain way that is premature and robs them of their innocence. This kind of dances should be avoided, but having said that, a platform can be given to them for showcasing their talent.”
Lewis also pointed on the negative impact of reality shows on children. He said, “Children are impressionable, and television is a cut-throat professional place." He also added how such shows put kids on a pedestal for a couple of months and then a new show starts it leaves a void in them. He also added that if he had a kid, he wouldn’t want his kid to participate in a reality show. Lewis also mentioned how the same pushes the kid to an extreme level of ambition.
