Hina Khan on playing Komolika in Kasautii Zindagii Kay: Playing a negative character is challenging
Hina Khan talks about playing a negative character, and how it is challenging when compared to playing a positive.
Hina Khan is definitely winning hearts as her portrayal of Komolika in Kasautii Zindagii Kay and after seeing her as Akshara in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai for about 8 years, this obviously, is quite a contrast. Before returning to daily soaps with Kasautii, Hina did two of Indian television's most popular reality shows, both of which she bagged the second place, and obviously brought about a change as to how she is perceived by the viewers. However, looks like that wasn't enough, and Komolika came across as yet another of her efforts to do something different.
Talking about playing a negative shade, and how the story is building up, Hina said, "There is always over the top drama in Television, I am any way expressive and when it is a negative character, you have to make it look out of the box, the way you are. When I was Akshara, you don’t have to put in a lot of energy unless when you have to cry, and that is one of the happiest things with Komolika because I don’t have to cry here and you tire off and I get a lot of joy when I talk about it. With a positive character, it is smooth and with a negative, every reaction has to be different."

She further added, "I think playing a negative character is more difficult, and challenging since you have a lot to work on and you have to put a lot of efforts and a lot of shades. With every dialogue, you can add your flavour and your touch. I haven’t shot for more than ten days for Komolika, but it is kind of growing now, I am meeting the characters, and the makers are building it up really well. It is not like I am randomly bumping into Anuraag (Parth Samthaan) or Prerna (Erica Fernandes), there is a back story to everything and it kind of sinking in. The entire team is putting in a lot of efforts to create the drama and powerful experiences."
