In an EXCLUSIVE chat with Pinkvilla, Nitika Anand aka Pinky Oberoi expressed the ecstasy of welcoming her baby girl, missing Ishqbaaaz and the sets and much more.
Nitika Anand, the actor who essayed the role of Pinky Oberoi in Ishqbaaaz, recently welcomed a baby girl. The actor took a maternity break earlier this year and has been missing in action ever since. Nitika has been one of the most adored persons on the sets and the good news has left everyone happy.
In an EXCLUSIVE chat with Pinkvilla, Mrs. Anand expressed the ecstasy of welcoming her baby girl, missing Ishqbaaaz and the sets and much more.
Here's an excerpt from the interview:
The first time you held the baby, how did it feel?
It was weird because the world had told me I was going to have a baby boy seeing my bump. I so so wanted a girl and when the baby girl came out, I went blurred as I couldn't believe it. We have always had many boys in the family so I was hoping for a baby girl. Sometimes it also feels like is it your own baby because it is my first right. You are so used to carrying other people's baby as your own so it just feels surreal. Also, I was a little dazed because it was a C-section. The baby directly did not come to me, she came for 2 minutes and then they took her away. But anyway, it feels good and happy.
How has life changed ever since the little munchkin came into your life?
The texture of life changes, it is enjoyable but you are also nervous as the little one is dependent on you. You are constantly worrying, 'will you hurt her or make her uncomfortable', you are also trying to get a hang of it. I just returned home some 3-4 days back so kind of everything has changed, for the better.
Have you decided on the name for the baby?
We are oscillating. 27th is the day when will be naming our child, on Gurupurnima. So, I will keep that a secret. We are trying and testing. Every day we call her with the three names that we have shortlisted and I think 27th is the day I will let out the name.
Has the Ishqbaaaz team been informed about this happy news?
The day we had the baby, we let out the message. Everybody rushed to the hospital typically because anyway I was there for only two days. All of them came at night and met me. Nakuul, in fact, was leaving for the US so he came late at night just to drop in. Everyone on the sets, in fact, had told me that I would have a baby boy and then they said your dream has come true.
Your farewell on the show had left the team members and fans sad... do you miss being on the sets?
It was a very emotional moment for me as I haven't done any show for this long. I am a very impatient actor that way so I keep moving on with the shows on Television. But in Ishqbaaaz, I never felt like that. (sighs) I was really missing it when I was pregnant. I was like 'oh god, no shoot' and after this one has come, I don't miss anything but being with this little one. So, even though everyone is saying that for six months and you will be back, and I just say 'I don't think so.' I can't think of leaving her even for the bathroom break. In fact, my husband is also hating going to work. Right now, I don't have work in my mind but I miss the team a lot. That was like my family. (smiles)
Lastly, the show recently completed two years. You have been a pivotal part of it. How will you sum up the journey?
For me, when I took up the show, I was a little skeptical. It was not a very story-centric show, it was a character-centric show and later developed as a love story. When I took up the role, I was a little edgy, it was a comic character and the definitions were not clear. But I think it is the best character I ever got to play. It had so many shades that, I, as an actor, experienced it. The fact that you can be bitchy at times and be nice at the same time, as a mother, Pinky was such a character. Sometimes, it was a positive character and sometimes negative, so as an actor, it was one of my favourite characters. If any day I have to get back, I will definitely get back with Ishqbaaaz. After a year maybe, I want to get back as avatar maybe, Pinky ka bhoot wapas aa gaya hai. (laughs out loud)
Congratulations, Nitika ji! Here's wishing you and the baby good health!
