EXCLUSIVE: Nia Sharma says, ‘won’t compromise on my respect to bag a film project’

Nia Sharma is one of the most candid actresses on Indian Television. More than her onscreen avatar, the actress makes news for her offscreen one. Be it her bold lipstick choices, her unconventional style or her bindaas attitude, the actress sure knows how to make headlines. In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, when we asked Nia if she is looking forward to take the big leap with Bollywood in future.

But no one should come and tell me that ‘oh you are from TV.’ As cliche it may sound, no one is paying for my lifestyle or emi or house, TV is.” She added, “If someday someone feels that I am at a position to bag a certain role, i will audition for it. But, don’t come and tell me, “tum TV se ho, tumhari acting TV ki hai.” Move past that please.” She also stated, “Are they saying that someone who just lost a certain pound and is from an influtential family is ready for your movie and we aren’t?” Nia also revealed that till then she is happy with whatever she has achieved.

The actress also opened up on trolls and how she deals with it. She said, “Two years back, I was getting trolled at every little thing I did, be it sporting a blue lipstick or my bikini; now it has become less in fact. When someone calls me ‘ugly or overrated’, I accept it; they are not saying anything wrong. What is so offending in this? I can’t have people praising me all the time. So when people tell me I am ugly, I understand, they are right but I only corrected that person that I don’t have a PR.”
