For anyone who has been looking for a newer approach to daily soaps on Indian Television, Dipika Kakar and Karan V Grover's Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum is the show to watch. The show continues to prove to be a clutter breaker in many ways, be it the handling of the love story, the sarcastic take on an actor's life on Television and the potential drama amid regular dosage of laughter. In an exclusive interview with PINKVILLA, Karan V Grover opened up on if it is difficult to walk the middle path whilst doing TV, his reaction to the scene which went viral and the budding chemistry with Dipika.
First up, speaking about his approach to the scene which went viral from the show (where Rohit goes berserk seeing Parvati operate on an almost dead man), Karan said, "Honestly, my reaction was as funny as anyone else. When I had read the script, I had read it a few times to get into the essence of it. But, my producer, Sandip Sikcand, wanted me to give a loud reaction and since I can't really act too loud, I was in a dilemma but, when I gave my loudest expression, everyone on the sets started laughing. That's when I knew that this scene will definitely be liked."
Further, we asked Karan if threading on the middle path, balancing content with drama is difficult? To this, the handsome actor added, "It is definitely difficult to do something different especially on a platform and a time band where excessive drama or supernatural things are being expected. To add humour, real give and take are a little difficult because you are constantly being compared to the TRPs and number game. So, it is very important for such shows to get TRP as well so that more and more people can experiment."
When asked about the best compliment he received so far, Karan added, "A very senior actor told me that he is reminded of young Anil Kapoor seeing me. I felt it was one of the best compliments I received given that I am myself a fan of Anil Kapoor."
On what was the most challenging part about playing Rohit, Grover shared, "Rohit is a mindblowing surgery, just because of this all his flaws, his stupidity is often overlooked. It was very important for me to perform this convincingly. It was a very big challenge for me. Secondly, his sarcasm, it should look funny and relatable but not rude. I wanted to approach it in the way that it looks funny in reality, and lastly, the love story with Dipika Kakar should make you go awe."
He concluded, "You will go awe for Dipika right now (given her scenes are mushier right now), Rohit's awe moment hasn't come as yet. His moments are currently 'awful' (laughs)."
Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum airs at 9 PM on Star Plus.
