Did you Know? John Abraham and Saumya Tandon were the original choices for Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar
Saumya Tandon was initially supposed to play Nargis Fakhri's role in Rockstar.
Shocked much? Yes, we too are shocked to learn the fact that Imtiaz Ali's blockbuster film Rockstar originally had a different cast and it was Saumya Tandon aka Roop from Jab We Met and the super sexy John Abraham.
When we got in touch with Saumya Tandon for the Jab We Met special feature, the gorgeous actress while speaking about the film revealed to us that Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri was ideally supposed to be lead by Saumya Tandon and John Abraham. Well, we wonder what didn't work out that the cast was revamped and Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri were brought on board.
While Saumya spoke about how she bagged the role of Roop in Jab We Met she told us that, "It Feels great, Jab We Met was my first project and I had no idea that this film is going to be such an iconic film. In fact strangely I had met Imtiaz Ali when he was supposed to do Rockstar with John Abraham and he was looking for a Kashmiri looking girl and that's how I had actually met Imtiaz and then after that Jab We Met happened, so when I was supposed to meet him for Jab We met in his office I was a little skeptical and I was thinking in my mind that first I had met him for a lead role and now I am meeting him for a very small role."
She had further added, "I wasn't very sure about it, but when he made me sit down and do the reading with him and I heard the story, I was totally spellbound by the script, and charmed by the dialogues and the freshness of the film and I said yes to the project. At that point I did not even think whether I should do a small role, I absolutely loved the story and came on board, no thought went into it as I just-just passed out of college and it was exciting for me to be a part of such a film. When I look back I feel that I did that film on a chance and I feel that in our generation if we had to pick up one film which was the best romantic film it would be Jab We met for sure."
Well, that's one thing we didn't know and are surprised to discover, never the less we are happy we got to see Saumya as the fabulous Roop in Jab We Met.
