Jennifer Winget in an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla opens up on kick-starting shooting for Code M and more. Read on.
Jennifer Winget will soon be seen playing an army officer in her upcoming web show Code M. The much loved actress will essay the role of Monica and has been training hard to get into the skin of the character. Recently, she was papped playing basketball and we honestly cannot wait to see her in this completely new avatar. Jennifer begins shooting for the show today. In a quick interview with Jen, we asked her about the new role, how excited is she to be return to work and being critical of her performances. Over to Jennifer:
About her character in Code M
The character I play is called Monica. Honestly, I am very excited but I am equally anxious because to train and ready myself to be an army officer, which is something I have never done. It is an interesting and new space for me because wearing a uniform comes with a lot of responsibility and respect and getting that right and to keep working on the personality of your character, get the body language right and the way we speak to get that on point is paramount. Luckily, I have a very fantastic team who are working equally hard to ensure I get all the nuances right. Honestly, I cannot wait to start the series.
On Code M being termed as her digital debut (her film Phir Se also got a digital release, FYI)
I don’t know (why call it a debut). I never and I didn’t think of the project as digital or TV. For me, you give me a good project and I don’t care where it is being aired. For me, more than TV, film or web, it is the project that attracts me and this attracted me. I don’t get this digital debut thing. What is digital debut? Am I going to act any differently? I have been working for so many years now so what is this entire thing about debut?
On Ekta Kapoor's remark of wanting to work with her in an interview with Pinkvilla
It is amazing[to be back to Balaji]! Kasautii gave me such a wider recognition and I was with Balaji for a very very long time. Now, I am working with them again after a long time. I am so looking forward to it. Ekta has been amazing. I have always been very fond of her. I met her recently before going to my holiday and told her the kind of work I would like to do and this is what she offered me and I couldn’t have been more grateful.
Being critical of her performances
Oh, but that I have always been. Since the time I started acting I have always been like 'I should or could have done this better'. That is why there are so many of scenes and episodes that I don’t watch because then I start overthinking about it, little things bother me. I deal with it by not watching it (laughs).
We are so looking forward to seeing Jennifer play an army officer!
