Erica Fernandes opens up on challenges in South film industry; Reveals she was not plump like South actresses
Erica Fernandes, who has worked in both television and the South film industry, recalls her struggling days while working in the regional language films.
Erica Fernandes, who is one of the most sought-after actresses in the television industry, has a come a long way in her career. She entered the industry as a model but rose to fame from her debut serial Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi in which she essayed the role of doctor Sonakshi Bose. Her chemistry with Shaheer Sheikh was adored by the fans. Her second popular drama Kasautii Zindagii Kay was also a hit. She was seen opposite Parth Samthaan and Karan Singh Grover.
But many don’t know that the actress has also worked in the South film industry. She has been part of various films in different languages which include Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. And like other actresses, Erica too had her struggles when she was working in the South film industry. Talking to Telly Chakkar, she said that her weight was a major concern. “In South, actresses are plump and I was not. There is no concept of size zero. My body structure is not like their actress and it became quite challenging sometimes,” she added.
Erica has been part of films like Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu, Ninnindale, Virattu/ Dega, Galipatam, Buguri and many more.
After achieving success in both television and film industry, Erica had mentioned that she wants to be part of good content as reaching the big screen is not her ultimate goal. “Good content shows are what I am looking for always then the screen does not matter. I want to do shows which challenge me as an actor,” the actress added.
