Birthday Special: Here's why Karan Singh Grover aka Dr. Armaan will forever be the King Of Romance on TV
Karan Singh Grover turns 36 today. The actor best kown for his role as Dr Armaan Mallik in Dill Mill Gayye continues to be the heartthrob of the nation. On the occasion of his birthday we recount why he will forever be the King of Romance on TV.
Back in 2007, Karan Singh Grover as "dillon ka doctor" Armaan in the cult youth show Dill Mill Gayye stole everyone's heart making them go weak in their knees. Grover wasn't just a good looking lad with a sexy baritone but also extremely romantic which added an edge to his character.
By the end of 2007, Armaan had become the epitome of romantic heroes on Indian Television. His chemistry with his ladies on and off screen and camaraderie with friends became a textbook definition of coolness. He became a phenomenon, quite literally! Do you remember the time Armaan confessed his love to Riddhima (his love interest on the show), girls forgot how to breathe. Everyone wanted their partners to look at them the way Armaan looked at Riddhima. Such was his impact!
We are sure everyone reading this will agree with us that Armaan had a sense of style and charisma to him which was so infectious that everyone in the vicinity raved about DMG. The show became a rage amongst youth.
One might argue, "Hey, it is just a character!" But for those who have lived and breathed DMG, you might want to disagree! Karan with his flawless performance added a zing to Armaan that eventually, it was difficult to separate the actor from the character.
Recently, during a conversation when we had asked Karan on how much of the romantic side of Dr. Armaan has he inherited, Karan said, "Well, the role of Dr. Armaan is actually quite close to what I am. Armaan actually went full board and did everything all the time, he is somebody that I also look up to when it comes to romance but the thought process is quite similar. I try my best to do whatever I can and make it special. I think it is the thought and the intent that makes a difference at the end of the day."
As the handsome actor turns 36 today, we couldn't help but take a trip down the memory lane and relive the days when intimacy was spearheaded oh-so-beautifully on screen by Grover as Armaan.
Indian Television has since then seen many romantic heroes but Armaan remains evergreen.
