Anu Malik sexual harassment allegations: Sony TV in a statement, 'Malik no longer part of Indian Idol'

Anu Malik who was co-judging the reality show Indian Idol Season 10 alongside Neha Kakkar and Vishal Dadlani is now no longer a part of the show, confirms Sony Entertainment Television.

Singer Anu Malik, who is currently judging the reality singing show Indian Idol season 10, has been asked to step down from the position of the judge. Anu Malik was recently accused of sexual harassment by Shweta Pandit and Sona Mohapatra following which two more survivors opened up on their horrific experiences with the Bollywood singer. However, Malik denied knowing Sona and denied allegations levelled on him by Shweta. Anu who was co-judging the reality show Indian Idol Season 10 alongside Neha Kakkar and Vishal Dadlani is now no longer a part of the show, confirms Sony Entertainment Television.

Just a day ago, Pinkvilla exclusively revealed who takes the matters related to sexual harassment very seriously, had been internally discussing the matter and has now decided to drop Anu as the judge till the further case is investigated. Sony Entertainment Television has now released an official statement. The channel confirms that Anu Malik is no longer a part the singing reality show. The statement reads, “Anu Mallik is no longer a part of the Indian Idol jury panel. The show will continue its planned schedule and we will invite some of the biggest names in Indian music as guests to join Vishal and Neha to judge the extraordinary talent of Indian Idol season 10.”


An aspiring singer shared her Me Too story and accused Anu Malik of sexual harassment. The singer shared that she met the composer in 1990 at Mehboob Studios. Anu Malik apologized her but the incident happened again when they collaborated on a fund raiser event. The singer shared about the incident that how Malik behaved inappropriately with her during a meeting at his home, “He sat next to me on the sofa. I realised I was trapped as his family was not at home. He then lifted my skirt and dropped his pants. I thought of pushing him and rushing out the door, but he was too strong for me. Luckily, the doorbell rang at that moment.” He later apologised yet again saying he is a “passionate” person, the survivor said.
