Ali Asgar shot to fame by playing the role of Daadi in comedy king Kapil Sharma’s famous reality show Comedy Nights With Kapil. Then, again he played the same character of Daadi in The Kapil Sharma Show which made the audiences laugh. The actor’s mind-blowing comic skills managed us go ROFL. Not just this, Asgar has several times played the role of woman characters and has got pretty popular because of it.
But now, it seems because of doing the same role for years, Ali is not finding it interesting enough to continue with it. The actor said that he has been receiving the same offers, and he is not willing to do it anymore. The actor-turned-comedian said that he remained jobless for almost 7 months as he turned down several offers where he had to play a woman’s role. He says he is simply bored and now is mentally out of those roles.
The actor quoted to PTI, “I am now bored of playing female characters because I have nothing new to offer to it. Unless it's written well. Now drag is taken for granted. That just because a man is doing a female character, it's funny. It is not! There's no novelty.
Had great time on love me India wit GURU ...thanks for the lovely moments ..keep shining
He further told why he sat home without work for 7 months. He quoted, “If someone needed a female character in a drag, the channel or production would only approach me. My argument was: why me in a drag? But they used to say audience wants only me in a drag because I do it the best. Trust me, for seven months I had to sit at home because I was getting the same offer before I got Jeannie Aur Juju. This was the time I was doing Comedy Circus, award shows, among others," he added. Ali says the ‘writing on TV is so weak’ that he often struggles to add nuances to his characters as there is nothing new to do.”
