Naamkarann's Sayantani Ghosh on Reema Lagoo's demise: Words can't express what I feel; it's numbness of another kind
Naamkarann's Sayantani Ghosh expresses her shock over Reema Lagoo's sudden demise.
Reema Lagoo, who set a precedent for all onscreen mothers with her impeccable and realistic portrayal of the role, passed away today after suffering from a cardiac arrest.
She is well-remembered for her role in movies like Hum Saath Saath Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kal Ho Na Ho amongst others and TV shows like Tu Tu Main Main and Shrimaan Shrimati. She was last seen in Mahesh Bhatt's Naamkarann wherein she played the role of an obsessive and conservative mother Dayawanti Mehta.
As a mark of respect, Naamkarann team called off the shoot today and were present at the funeral which took place this afternoon.
Sayantani Ghosh, who played the daughter-in-law of Reema Lagoo in the show, couldn't believe the news and expressed her shock.
When we got in touch with her, an emotional Sayantani said, "Words can't express what I feel. It's numbness of another kind. Shall always remember her fondly.. so many sweet memories..."
Earlier today, Naamkarann's Viraf Patel, who played the role of Reemaji's son, said, "What a lovely woman and what a legacy or work she has left behind for all of us to admire and be inspired by. I feel a sense of good fortune that I got to be her last onscreen son."
Mahesh Bhatt too expressed his grief by saying, "The sudden death of a dear friend hurls one into deep silence. She was a great actor and a greater human being."
Many Bollywood celebs including Aamir Khan, Rishi Kapoor among others were present at the funeral today.
