Sonu Nigam hit headlines after he took to Twitter to vent out his frustration over 'forced religiousness' and morning Azaan which apparently disturbed his sleep.

Since then the singer has been at the receiving end on social media. However, a few of the Bollywood celebs came forward to support the singer- one among them was comedian Sunil Grover, who himself is at the center of controversies following his ugly spat with Kapil Sharma.

Taking to Twitter, Sunil wrote, "I know @sonunigam sir he won't hurt anyone's religious sentiments ever. He respects all.Lets not misinterpret n give it a religious tinge."

Contrary to this, Vice President of the West Bengal Minority United Council issued a fatwa against Sonu over his statement against the use of loudspeakers for azaan and forced religiousness. "If anyone can shave his hair, put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck and tour him around the country I personally announce an award of Rs 10 lakh for that person," said the Maulavi.

Responding to this, Sonu actually shaved off his head today in presence of media and well, literally shocked everyone! He even urged the media to not give this a religious colour as his protest was against use of loudspeakers for religious purposes and not against any religion in particular.

Speaking on the issue, Sonu said, "I want to say this once again, what Aalim bhai is doing is not some agitation. Don't feature it like that. Don't portray it like a challenge. This is not some challenge. This is to tell you that baal kaatne wala Musalmaan hai aur jiske baal katwane ka fatwa diya gaya hai woh Hindu hai. There is no animosity. I'm not cutting my hair against my will. I'm telling my Musalmaan bhai to cut my hair. If we interpret the talk of fatwa with love and if you'll understand what I have said then that is wonderful."
