Snapchat Controversy: Here's how Suyyash-Kishwer, Anita Hassanandani, Devoleena Bhattacharjee & others reacted
Telly Ville talks about the Snapchat controversy.
Snapchat's CEO Evan Spiegel has definitely opened an entire box of worms it seems! And it has backfired on him and how! Apparently, the company has denied of having made such remarks but Indians are Indians. We have our inter-quarrels but are also united against anti-India remarks made.
Talking about the controversy, for the uninitiated, Snapchat's CEO, Evan Spiegel, apparently said the app is "only for rich people" and that he doesn't "want to expand into poor countries like India and Spain." The moment the news was out, it spread like wildfire leading to a social media war, where Twitterattis made sure to leave no stone unturned in giving it back to the CEO who reportedly tried to belittle their country.
Here is what the Telly Ville had to say...
Anita Hassanandani - Rohit Reddy:
Anita Hassanandani and Rohit Reddy posted a video clip of themselves on Instagram. The two are just seen sticking their tongue out, something that Snapchat asked us to do to get the dog face filter. And trust us, they look cuter! Apparently, similar to the millions of patriots who bid adieu to the app, Anita too seems to have deleted it. FYI, Anita has been an avid user of the filters.
Kishwer Merchantt - Suyyash Rai:
Kishwer Merchant and her hubby Suyyash Rai, took to their social networking handle to make their thoughts known on the issue. And they were not very subtle, we should say. They also shared a picture of themselves deleting the app from their phones.
Raghav Juyal:
#boycottsnapchat I just deleted it, now it's your turn
DEVOLEENA BHATTACHARJEE:
I never used Snapchat and I am happy about it. Pointing out something on other countries one should think before. And for sure India was only the one country over the globe got named as "Golden Bird" by the British Empire. India is rich in everything be it resources, heart or mind.
TANYA SHARMA:
So I am totally addicted to snap chat and it's really a new thing in social media so when I heard about that statement I really felt that people should stop stereotyping India like that and I totally believe that one day we will break such notions though I don't get this uninstall Snapchat app campaign.
YUVIKA CHAUDHARY:
CEO must think what he speaks else it sounds like we Indians are not poor but they are illiterate to think themselves ruling kings in the marketing fields. He should know that India runs economy of many countries.
ROOP DURGAPAL:
The comment coming from a CEO is extremely immature and distasteful. However, I had lost interest in the app much before as I felt it was nothing more than wastage of time which could be utilised for much better things to do much better and productive things.
Mahika Sharma:
Who is Evan Thomas Spiegel? If he doesn't know Snapchat is something Indian kids use as a toy and what he feels that making fun apps for kids is something great work? I would better tell him to get some good work! If he can read would love him to take a view of Indian history. He will learn how rich we poor are! He will face failure in front of Indian kids who are just eight to 10 years old for sure! I have never used any such foolish app like Snapchat! And also I have no idea what it is. I have just seen kids having fun with it in my family."
