EXCLUSIVE- Eijaz Khan: Nowadays even if you have 4000 friends on Facebook, you're still lonely
Eijaz Khan is all set to essay the role of a middle-aged Gujarati Villager on Sony TV's Moh Moh Ke Dhaage.
Actor Eijaz Khan, has over the years definitely evolved, both in his professional and personal life. 90's kids would clearly remember him as the adorable and hopelessly in love Kavya to his Anjali, in Ekta Kapoor's superhit show KaavyaAnjali.
The actor who is all set to essay the role of a middle-aged Gujarati Villager on Sony TV's Moh Moh Ke Dhaage, considers the role of Mukhi (his character in the show) to be a challenge. "I have tried my best in adapting the Gujarati look," said Eijaz while exclusively talking to us and added, "I actually went and stayed with the Sarpanch of a village in Gujarat to understand it better and do justice to my role. It's always fun to accept challenging roles. If I keep playing the same roles that I have played earlier as well, I will die as an actor."
Eijaz, who has put on 8 kilos for this role further said, "Any actor who portrays a character of a community, the main tension is that it shouldn't look caricaturist or forced. So I usually don't ask my director whether my act was fine or not but after every shot this time, I assure myself after checking with my director whether my act was just fine or not. The little Gujarati kids on sets at times do turn into critics and help me improve." Further, while talking about the kind of roles he has been offered before he finalised on playing Mukhi, the handsome actor revealed that he was offered to play bizarre characters at one point of time. "I still get offers where I am told that I was a wolf in my previous birth. I mean people actually do watch all this. They love watching it," said Eijaz. "If they make such content and make a good show out of it, I may be a part of it. But I can't imagine myself to be a snake, maybe a wolf would do. That's all till where I can push my limit to," he quipped. And reality shows? "I have been offered reality shows. But you know, when I got into acting, I decided to be an actor. Now I don't want to get into doing reality things. That requires a different skill set. and I am not that."
The actor, though broken inside at times knows how to sail through the hard-hitting phase with grace and maturity. The ups and downs of emotions in his life has definitely taught the charming man the art of living life strong! The actor who was head over heels in love with a Canadian singer Natalie Di Luccio, was shattered when their relationship went kaput. He had once admitted to locking himself in his room for hours and feeling depressed and lonely. But the actor has now definitely sprung back into action and how!
He says that though difficult, it is very essential for one, especially the young generation to hold their own-self strong and seek help from friends, family and doctors whenever they face the lows of life and not give up. "I was very lucky that I wasn't from the Facebook generation. We had real friends. Not that this generation doesn't have. The ones with suicidal tendencies or depression tend to go on a wrong way because they have bonded with a chemical rather bonding with a human being," said Eijaz. "Instead of advising the youth who's already dealing with the lows, I would really want the families and friends to keep an eye on such a child and educate themselves on the issues faced by him. Look out for starting signs and get medical help. Get out of the stigma." He further said, "You know, We had people, real friends who would help us through such traumas in life. But nowadays with social media, even if you have like say 4000 friends on Facebook, you are still lonely. "If marriages can happen, break-ups too can happen. But then, either you can decide that I am going to keep feeling bad for myself or else do something about it. Everyone goes through ups and downs. You will never enjoy the ups if you never face the downs," said the actor.
We couldn't help but agree with Eijaz! More power to you!
Moh Moh Ke Dhaage stars Niyati Fatnani opposite Eijaz and airs on Sony TV.
