Here's how Kapil Sharma proved that controversies are a MUST for stardom

Ace comedian cum host Kapil Sharma is not just synonymous with great comedy and spontaneity but also with major controversies. While Kapil made headlines for accepting his relationship with Ginni Chatrath, the next news of his ugly spat with Sunil Grover took the internet by storm.

Well, finding himself surrounded with controversies and negative news is not something new to Kapil. A glimpse at his past, (after garnering the star status), one can notice the majority of news that has gotten him into the negative limelight.

1. Questioning PM Narendra Modi's Acche Din!

In a tweet tweeted by Kapil, the actor directed it to the PM's ideology of his concept of Acche Din, after apparently he was asked for a bribe by BMC. He tweeted, “Yeh hain aapke achhe din ? @narendramodi. “ "I am paying 15 cr income tax from last 5 year n still i have to pay 5 lacs bribe to BMC office for making my office @narendramodi." Kapil was asked to pay Rs. 5lakhs as bribe by the BMC for making an office in the city.  

2. Misbehaviour at prestigious Marathi Awards

Kapil Sharma was in the news after there were reports that he misbehaved with some of his co-stars at IIFM (International Marathi Film Festival) Awards 2015. Reports stated that Kapil got out of control after a few drinks and misbehaved with Monali Thakur, Tanishaa Mukerji and other female guests. Kapil laughed off and then tweeted, "I fall, I rise, I make mistakes, I live, I learn, I've been hurt but I am alive.i am human, I am not perfect but I am thankful."

3. Wrong portrayal of nurse on his show

Kapil Sharma received a backlash from a group of nurses from various medical colleges and hospitals in Amritsar. They planned to file a defamation case against him as they took offence with the way their profession was represented on The Kapil Sharma Show. The show has Rochelle Rao portraying the character of a hot and glamorous nurse.

4. Colors vs Kapil Sharma

The Colors vs Kapil Sharma saga went on for a really long period of time. Apparently, it went onto on to such an extent that Kapil decided to quit the show, just for soon to air on a rival channel. Apparently, he wasn't happy with the way the channel was promoting, Comedy Nights Bachao which was also the channel's property. In the beginning, Kapil was paid approximately Rs 70 lakh to produce each episode and the show was aired once a week.  But as the show topped the TRP charts, the show started airing two episodes per week. In 2014, Kapil apparently started asking the channel to renegotiate his rates. Colors then had to renegotiate his compensation, which was hiked to Rs 1.25 crore per episode.

5. Kapil vs Sunil Grover

This isn't the first time that the two talented men have gotten into a major scuffle. Earlier, Sunil had to suddenly leave Comedy Nights after an alleged fall out with Kapil. Reports stated that the 29-year-old comedian opted out of the hit show because his contract was getting over and the show’s producer and host Kapil was not ready to give him the desired hike. Sunil had then collaborated with Maniesh Paul and revamped his character of Gutthi as Chutki for comedy show Mad In India.  Meanwhile, Kapil’s show started witnessing a major dip in TRPs and the same thing happened with Sunil's show. Apparently, the deadly combo of Kapil and Sunil worked with audiences, is what the two realised.

6. Physical brawl with Sunil

It all happened when Kapil and Sunil along with the TKSS team were flying back from their Australia tour on Thursday night with the former losing his calm out of nowhere. Allegedly, an intoxicated Kapil suddenly walked up to Sunil’s seat and started hurling abuses at him and even went on to call him by names like “Tu mera naukar hai, tere show flop tha” (You are my servant, your show was a flop). However, the verbal abuses transformed into a physical assault when the 35-year-old comedy show host held Sunil by his collar and is even said to have raised his hand to him. The sordid drama only stopped when the airline crew intervened and calmed the Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon star. Though Sunil maintained his cool and kept quiet, the brawl was loud enough to get the attention of their co-passengers. Reportedly, the 39-year-old actor looked embarrassed and even apologised to his flight mates for the inconvenience.

Well,  great and finely explored talent leads to stardom, but does stardom lead to controversies? Well, for Kapil it certainly does.
