Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah to pay tribute to the late playwright with a special episode
Speaking to a leading daily Dilip Joshi aka Jethalal revealed that team Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is planning to play tribute to the late playwright with a special episode.
Following the death of the renowned Gujarati playwright and humourist Taarak Mehta today, it has been reported that popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah will soon be shooting a special episode in the memory of the columnist.
Talking to a leading daily, Dilip Joshi aka Jethalal revealed that the crew is planning a special episode as a tribute to the playwright.
On being asked if they will be paying homage to the 87-year-old columnist he confirmed, “Of course we will do a special episode in memory of him. That is what we all are planning. The entire team and producers are now discussing how we can do it. It is extremely sad that he passed away."
Incidentally, SAB’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is the adaptation of the humourist’s well-known column Duniya Ne Undha Chasma, which was first featured in the Gujarati weekly magazine Chitralekha in 1971.
Speaking after the writer’s tragic death, show’s writer Shailesh Lodha said, “I still remember when show the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was started, he used to come on the sets. We have lost a great writer. We have met many times and I always found his humour unbelievable.”
Apart from the column itself, the demised author has published 80 books, out of which three are based on the columns he wrote for Gujarati newspaper Divya Bhaskar.
His other popular works include Aa Duniya Panjarapole, Action Replay ½, Albelun America Vanthelun America, Champaklal Tapuni Jugalbandhi, Betaj Batali Baj Popatlal Taraj and more.
The 2015 Padmi Shri winner has also been honoured with Sahitya Gaurav Puruskar and Ramanlal Nilkanth Hasya Paritoshik by Gujarat Sahitya Akademi.
