Indian Television has a humongous range of hotties. While a few are trying to create a mark, a few seem to have captivated hearts of fans and are successfully creating a place for themselves in the TV world. One such dapper is Kunal Jaisingh. The actor, who is all set to be a part of the first ever spin-off series Dil Bole Oberoi, in a candid chat with Pinkvilla.com, expounded on his new show, working with his co-star Shrenu Parikh and how much he admires his co-actor in the show, Rahul Dev.
Will it not create confusion for viewers to chose between Ishqbaaz and Dil Bole Oberoi?! Ask him this and Kunal clarifies it in the simplest way. "It's not a different serial altogether. It's just a continuation of Ishqbaaaz. See, the former one was a story of three brothers. Shivaay and Anika's track started and it picked up. Then pushing a track aside that is garnering TRPs for another track in the making is a little silly and risky too. In 21 min if we try and give to all the three love stories together, viewers won't be able to hold on to it. Look at this way, one hour of a show where each of the brothers gets 20 min, makes more sense right! So how does it matter if it is Ishqbaaz or Dil Bole Oberoi? Well, it's the first time in world television that an ongoing show is getting a spin-off."
Ask him about working with his new co-star Shrenu Parikh and Kunal is all praises for her."Shrenu is just so talented and pretty. We have shot together and it is just so comfortable working with her. There is no tantrum or ego issues. It's just in the flow. It's all fun." Considering the current super-fictional content ruling the market, will viewers ever get to see Kunal play any fictional character on screen?! "Oh, I would love to. I would love to do every character that would be challenging, is over the top, a psycho - I want to do every role possible. For that matter, I would love to become a snake or kabootar also," he quipped. "You know I came into the industry to become a villain. No one gave me a chance, I was clean shaved and this chocolate boy thing hence nobody offered me a villainous role only."
So if playing an antagonist was his aim, how does it feel on sharing the same screen space with the ace villain of Bollywood, Rahul Dev? "I was so excited when I came to know that Rahul Dev was going to come. You have no clue how intimated I was when I saw his villainous roles- Awara Paagal Deewana, Meri Jung. Oh god! You know, I have seen Rahul sir play this villain and hold an evil personality on-screen, but he came across as an extremely sweet person in real life." The actor is definitely a heartthrob and enjoys a huge fan following. But is Kunal fine with the bold concept of getting intimate onscreen just to set the temperatures soaring? "No, I am not OK with kissing or doing intimate scenes on screen at least as of now. Well, you know actually good content will get me more fame which will get me more money."
The state-level basketball player further spoke at length of how Indian TV is no less when it comes to comparing with Bollywood. "Why is every movie actor coming to TV to promote movies because the reach is massive. Why are people in Africa and various other countries wanting to connect with Indian TV actors more? They probably don't know who an Akshay Kumar is but they know who a Ram Kapoor or a Ronit Roy is! Today, your biggest star is a TV star - Sachin Tendulkar. He does advertisements for TV, is seen on TV and well it doesn't mean you are a TV star only if you are doing a TV show. So how can TV be inferior to Bollywood like ever!"
And is Kunal open to doing reality shows like a Bigg Boss?! "No BB for me as of now. And you know, I can't dance for nuts. But I won't mind doing a comedy show. I can do that," he said, before signing off.
Dil Bole Oberoi, a spin-off of Ishqbaaaz, is all set to air from tomorrow and stars Kunal Jaisingh, Shrenu Parikh, Rahul Dev and Nidhi Uttam in vital roles.
